Chris Lower’s New Book Checking into Foursquare Checks into Social Media
About four years ago, Chris and Mary Lower expanded their public relations and web design firm – Sterling Cross Communications – into the realm of social media. Suffice it to say, the move was prophetic.
“We figured that if we weren’t broadcasting our clients’ news on those channels, we were missing out on half the audience,” says Chris Lower of Maple Grove. “And that was early on, when people were just starting to migrate.”
Now, most successful businesses promote or disseminate their message via social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter as well as RSS feeds and blogs. Just a simple website won’t cut it anymore. “(Social media) is a two-way communication channel as opposed to a website, which most of the time is static,” says Chris Lower, 44.
Lower’s new book is a guide to one of the least static social media channels out there – Foursquare, a tool that integrates location into communication. Checking into Foursquare retails for less than $20 and is available now in bookstores and online on iTunes, Amazon and Barnes and Noble’s website.
