Park Center's Incredible Math Teacher

Justin Jacobs finishes a St. Thomas Teaching Fellowship and takes his experience with him.
| June 2012

Last year, Maple Grove resident Justin Jacobs was one of five experienced educators chosen from 125 applicants to participate in the St. Thomas Teaching Fellowship. The program provides professional development as well as an opportunity to learn from each other to gain further experience and become incredible teachers.

Jacobs, who teaches math at Park Center Senior High, is “a major contributor to the group,” says Jane Sigford, Ed. D, director and adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas. Jacobs’ teaching has already been changed in that he’s developed clear learning targets and increased assessment in his classroom. Dr. Sigford adds, “The team in his district has done so much to make sure that learning, not seat time, is the focus for students.”
