Rush Creek's Mac Nine Course Gives Beginners a Shot

The Mapel Grove golf club's new par-3, nine-hole course is short and sweet.

I am not a golfer, though not for lack of trying.

I've hit the links at least a dozen times in my life, going so far as participating in a charity tournament and taking lessons with my husband last spring. But for whatever reason, golf just didn't "take." I'm not particularly good, nor do I have a burning desire to get better.

But courses like Rush Creek's new Mac Nine might change that.

Mac Nine, which opened to limited use this spring, is a par-three, nine-hole course that's perfect for beginners, those lacking the four-hour time commitment a regulation-sized 18-hole course demands or anyone simply too intimidated by the "big course." In other words, folks like me. The best part? It's within spitting distance of the regular course, so Mac Nine golfers still get the "real golf course experience."

Maybe it's time to dust off those old clubs in my garage and give golfing another shot (pun intended)? Something tells me that when I head on over to Rush Creek to check the new course out, I will be in good company.
