Homeschooling Movement Meets Maple Grove
In the Maple Grove area and elsewhere, schooling children at home rather than in the traditional public or private school setting has become something of a mainstream activity, as more families discover the benefits of an alternative to "one size fits all" schooling. Minnesota has become a leader in the homeschooling movement, partly because of a wealth of parent-run educational co-ops and other resources, and also because the state's annual testing requirement is less onerous than the requirements mandated by some other states, local parents say.
