Awesome Amphibians Camp

Prepare for a full day of amphibian adventure with the captive and wild specimens of the Eastman Nature Center. Kids will learn about many native species of amphibians and their unique differences. They’ll check out the ones that live in and around Maple Grove in an indoor setting before exploring the nearby woods for frogs, salamanders and much more. Afterschool Adventures—Spring

Drop off the kids for the afternoon to discover the beauty of nature in the Maple Grove area with the arrival of the spring season. “Flowers Abound,” is a kid’s activity that explores the variety of wildflowers and plant life that thrives in the Elm Creek Park Reserve, as they will identify and compare many different flower species. School Year Camp: Frog Hunt

Leave the grown-ups behind for this afternoon of amphibian adventure for the kids, as they search the Elm Creek Park Reserve for wild frogs. Kids will have the opportunity to feed and visit the resident amphibians inside the nature center, try their hand at identifying the species of frogs that live in Minnesota and spend time outdoors searching the grounds for frogs on the many trails and nearby ponds and marshes. Royal Tea Party

The Maple Grove Ambassadors kindly request your presence at their annual event, “Mommy, Tea, and Me,” hosted by the Maple Grove Ambassador Scholarship Program. The afternoon features a variety of elegant treats and beverages geared specifically for young ladies, ages three and older, and their mothers for an afternoon of creative activities and fun. Family Day at the Ordway Center for Performing Arts

Spark a love of the arts in your child with a day full of live music and opportunities for your toddlers and grade school children to explore different instruments. My Preschooler & Me: Owl’s Birthday Party

Join nature center staff as they celebrate the resident owl’s twelfth “hatching day.” Naturalists will present a puppet show in honor of the birthday bird and offer owl-themed games and crafts. Great Horned Owls are notoriously mal-tempered, and Eastman’s one-eyed adoptee is no exception. Cheer him up with a “bird-day” card and make yourself a birthday hat. Enjoy cake and ice cream. World of the Little

Little ones will feel like giants as they explore the world too small to be seen with the naked eye. Provided tech toys will grant a close-up view of scavenged specimens, which may include pond insects, bird feathers and animal fur. Gadgets on hand will include a microscope, document camera and an iPad rigged with a magnifying lens. Free. Ages 5 and up. Children must be accompanied by adult.
