DESCRIPTION:Two of the state’s top women’s college teams will meet in the annual U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum Women’s Face-Off Classic\, on Thursday\, November 9\, at 7 p.m.\, at the Maple Grove Community Center. \nMinnesota State University will take on University of St. Thomas in the annual benefit game that raises awareness for the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum in Eveleth\, Minnesota. The museum (ushockeyhall.com) opened in 1973 with the goal of preserving the rich history of ice hockey in the United States while recognizing the extraordinary contributions of select players\, coaches\, administrators\, officials\, and teams. \nThe November 9 contest will showcase women’s college hockey at its highest level to the fans in attendance\, including young girls who may aspire to play hockey. The college teams will battle for the Hall of Fame Game trophy\, which will be presented to the winning team by Buzz Schneider\, a member of the gold medal winning 1980 men’s U.S. Olympic hockey team. \n“The City of Maple Grove is honored to host the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum Women’s Face-Off Classic\,” said Maple Grove Mayor Mark Steffenson. “It is sure to be an exciting game with two premier teams. These players exemplify the best in the sport and serve as role models for girls either interested in or already playing hockey. We are excited to welcome fans to our ice arena and share the strong foundation hockey has in the community as well as throughout the state. Our role as host helps to shine a light on the sport; encourage players of all ages\, abilities and levels; and celebrate the much-loved tradition of hockey in Minnesota.” \nTickets are $10 and can be purchased at mgcrimson.ticketleap.com/2023. DESCRIPTION:Annual fundraiser walk and festival to benefit those needing assistance dogs. \nCan Do Canines invites the public and their well-behaved pet dogs to take part in the Can Do Woofaroo on September 23\, 2023. The event will include a one-mile walk beginning at 11 a.m. The Can Do Woofaroo celebrates the amazing partnership between assistance dogs and the  people who need them.  \nIndividuals can register at www.candocanines.org/woofaroo on their own or as part of a team\, and everyone is encouraged to collect pledges and donations toward this fundraiser. The proceeds make it possible for Can Do Canines to match assistance dogs with people with disabilities. It costs about $45\,000 to raise and train an assistance dog\, but Can Do Canines provides them free of charge. It is because of generous\, community-minded businesses and individuals that this is possible. Event coordinator Melissa Herman says\, “We are so appreciative  of the participants who will raise funds for this life-changing mission. Our work in forming essential partnerships between these special dogs and deserving individuals is dependent on the generosity of our donors.”   \nThis outdoor event will include:\n \n\nA one-mile fundraising walk \nLive music \nDog costume contest \nAn assistance dog demonstration \nDog-centric vendors \nDog agility course \nTours of the Can Do Canines campus \nFood\n\nKARE 11’s Lauren Leamanczyk will emcee the event.  \nFundraising prizes will be awarded to those who raise certain dollar amounts\, as well as to the top individual fundraiser and top fundraising team. DESCRIPTION:Nearly 100 employees and community members of Independent School District 279 put on an annual variety show. Teachers\, custodians\, principals\, cooks\, secretaries\, educational support professionals\, administrators and neighbors participate. \nThe purpose of the show is to raise money for scholarships which are awarded to graduating students of  279Online\, the ACHIEVE program\, Maple Grove Senior High\, Osseo Area Learning Center\, Osseo Senior High\, Osseo Secondary Transition Center or Park Center Senior High\, to assist in the finance of their post-secondary education. \nSince 1967 we have raised and donated over $1.4 million in scholarships. \nShows 2023 \n\nWednesday April 19\, 7:30 p.m.\nThursday April 20\, 7:30 p.m.\nFriday April 21\, 7:30 p.m.\nSaturday April 22\, 2:30 p.m.\nSunday April 23\, 2:30 p.m.\n\nWe are making a little change to our ticket process.
