Throughout the past several years, the rough economy has put many in the difficult position of potentially losing their homes. Casey Van Winkle and Brady Day, owners of the Maple Grove business First Class Mortgage, heard so many heartbreaking stories about financial distress because of job loss, health issues, or other life changing events, they decided to do something about it.
First Class Mortgage has a history of being an active community partner since it opened in 2006, sponsoring and supporting various groups and events such as Maple Grove Days and the Rotary Club.
First Class Mortgage decided to partner with C.R.O.S.S., a nonprofit organization that serves families and individuals in temporary need by providing them with food, clothing and housing services. Under the leadership of new Executive Director Elizabeth Johnson, C.R.O.S.S. serves the local community including Maple Grove.
Last year, First Class Mortgage created a new program called the Peace of Mind Housing Fund. The purpose of the program is to reach out and help individuals and families going through hard financial times while struggling to maintain or keep their housing.
In 2013, First Class Mortgage offered $10,000 in matching funds with the goal of increasing C.R.O.S.S.’s assistance by at least $20,000 yearly.
