“My mom and I are the kind of shoppers who only buy something if it’s on sale,” says Miss Minnesota USA 2016 Bridget Jacobs. Jacobs named resale shop Style Encore as one of her favorite shops in her hometown of Maple Grove, for its affordable prices and fashionable pieces. “You can get a lot and it’s still high quality,” she says.

The variety Style Encore has to offer shines through in Jacobs’ purchases. “I find myself getting a lot of Lululemon and other workout gear, since that’s a bit more expensive and I can find it within my budget,” she says. When home from college, Jacobs stocks up on seasonally trending sweaters and tops. She recently purchased a satin special occasion dress for a benefit appearance. “I can find things across the board, from casual to fancy wear.”

Style Encore buys and sells gently used clothing and accessories for women. Due to the economy and people looking to go green, the resale market is becoming more and more popular. But franchise owner Angie Welsh feels it’s the customer experience that really sets them apart. “When you’re in the store, you don’t have a used or resale feeling; it’s more like a boutique with great value,” she says. Shoppers at Style Encore will find everything from ultra-value brands to high-end designers, all at about 50 to 70 percent off the price found in retail stores.
