It’s only fitting that our closing photograph is of a family cat, given that the subject of pets is a focus for this issue. Summer Scents captured first place in the Pets category for our annual photo contest.
Rescue cat Loki, 2, is typically an indoor cat, but her owner, Charles Haupert, wanted a nicer background for a photo, so out to the backyard they went. Taken with an EOSR and fixed 50 mm lens, Haupert especially appreciates the photo’s angle.
Haupert prefers photographing action, elements with emotion or “anything with a neat background to supplement the shot,” he says. Some of his favorite local venues to take photographs include the Arbor Lakes area and the Maple Grove Town Green Amphitheater at night.
