February 1 update: Due to the warm weather, Ice Castles is officially closed as of February 1.
January 26 update: Due to the warm Minnesota winter, Ice Castles is expanding its hours for the week of January 29. Additional dates include January 29, 30 and 31. Ice Castles encourages February ticketholders to consider switching to an earlier January date.
The City of Maple Grove will be transformed into a winter wonderland this season, as the Ice Castles, in conjunction with Experience Maple Grove, has a new home at the corner of Main Street and Weaver Lake Road.
“Experience Maple Grove has been instrumental in our decision-making to relocate,” says Jared Henningsen, vice president of event operations for the Ice Castles. “The open arms that the city has welcomed us with has been terrific, and we are excited to be in a new part of the Twin Cities.”
This year, attendees can expect to enter into a winter village, complete with something to eat, shopping, the ever-popular ice slides, crawl tunnels, igloos and cabins, an ice bar and more.
“[When] you first walk in, [you] will find something to eat and something to shop,” says Henningsen. “That village-like atmosphere is something we’re excited about.”
Tickets are now on sale—and Henningsen recommends purchasing them as early as possible. “We do sell out,” he says. “So we encourage people to … book in advance.”
The Ice Castles is weather-dependent and is typically open from January through the end of February. This year, the Ice Castles will open on January 24. Find tickets and more information at icecastles.com.
