Artsy Activities to Entertain Kids Over Summer Break

Get artsy over summer break.

The countdown is on—summer break is weeks away, and if you need some creative ideas for kids, the Maple Grove Arts Center offers several classes for kids of all ages. Some of them include:

Canvas Fun: Dragonflies & Surfboards
Kids create a colorful sunset sky and dragonflies with acrylic paints on canvas; and a beach scene of surfboards on a canvas tote bag. Ages 6-12; 9 a.m.-noon; June 7

All About MN Art Camp!
Create artwork based off of Minnesota landmarks, tall tales (such as Paul Bunyan), national parks, traditional native arts (Ojibwa floral designs) and more. This class includes drawing, painting, printmaking, and air-dry clay. Ages 8-14; 9:30 a.m.-noon; June 17-20

Summer Vacation Art Adventures!
Young artists will learn about the form of pop art and draw pictures of some of their favorite foods and learn the technique of pointillism. They’ll travel around the world with their imaginations and create versions of some famous landmarks. Ages 6-12; 10 a.m.-noon; June 24-27
