March might come in like a lion, but October arrives at the hands of ghosts (friendly and otherwise), goblins (grinning or sneering) and a host of other mischief makers and sweets seekers. Though Halloween doesn’t come until the end of the month, many of us begin the festivities much earlier with October 31-themed decorations for our homes—inside and out.
Each year, we create an editorial calendar for Maple Grove Magazine to help guide topics in our monthly issues. One of this month’s talking points is beauty—a word that falls into a chasm filled with loaded and convoluted meanings. After all, what is beauty?
After reading this month’s articles from our staff writers and freelancers, we discovered that many of the pieces are joined together with a level of unexpected beauty all their own.
Our August issue annually features a sampling of graduating seniors from area high schools. Nominated by their schools and chosen by our team, this year’s Prep Elites come to us by way of their service to others. What that means to them is worthy of plenty of pomp and circumstance.
The votes are in and counted, and it’s time for the big reveal. As we raise the curtain on this issue, we can hardly contain our excitement. Come along; and read along as we present readers’ favorites for the Best of 2019.
This issue serves up ways to get out and about in Maple Grove. Visit history. View art. Volunteer. Or take a day trip to some of the area’s best venues and vistas.
If you need more reasons to admire women, keep reading. Inspiring. Creative. Artistic. Caring. Local women shine throughout our pages.
