Maple Grove is heating up for seasoned sauna-goers and first-time adventurers.

Escape the winter chill with Central Park’s mobile wood-fired sauna and bonfire from February 4–10. The City of Maple Grove took note of neighboring cities that offered a similar sauna experience, and wanted to introduce a new way for local residents to enjoy winter in the community.

Visitors can book a public session for up to four people for $25 a person or schedule a private session with up to six people for $125. Registration opened January 2 and a time slot can be booked until five days in advance.

“For the best experience, follow a full sauna round,” the City of Maple Grove recommends. “Spend 10 to 20 minutes in the sauna, then cool down outside. This cycle can be repeated three to four times during a session.” The sauna will be kept between 180 F and 200 F, and the city suggests guests drink plenty of water before and after their session to stay hydrated.

The City of Maple Grove asks guests to bring the following to their session:

  • Digital receipt
  • A robe or blanket
  • Two towels (one to sit on, one to dry off with)
  • Water

Swimwear and flip-flops or sandals are required. The city also notes that alcohol, electronics (including cell phones) and strong fragrances are prohibited in the sauna. There will be indoor changing areas and storage for belongings available.

Ages 18 and older. Prices vary. Times vary. February 4–10. Central Park, 12000 Central Park Way; 763.494.6500; maplegrovemn.gov
