The Unlikely Village of Eden A Memoir

Twin Cities psychotherapist Emma Nadler and her musician husband, Chris Thomson (aka Cedar Thoms), received heartbreaking news that their second child, Eden, was born with a rare genetic condition. Doctors told them that it was unlikely Eden would be able to talk, walk or even eat. The family’s life suddenly revolved around trying to keep Eden alive. Around-the-clock care was exhausting, affecting their careers and marriage. When Thomson got the opportunity to tour with Bon Iver, Nadler was left to care for their children, but help from an unlikely village of generous family and friends somehow made it work.

Nadler relays her impossibly hard life as a caregiver with vulnerability and humor. She shares her deepest feelings of fear, love, resentment and hope in this book.

Nadler will talk about her book at Maple Grove Library at 6:30 p.m. February 8. All are welcome to attend this free library event.
