In the magazine industry, writers and editors tend to work months in advance to get issues to print. In this case, I’m writing this note to you, readers, in the middle of September—just days before I walk down the aisle to be married. At the time of publication, my husband and I will be gathering with our families for the holidays, for the first time as husband and wife. And it has me feeling incredibly sentimental. In our November/December issue of Maple Grove Magazine, we’re celebrating all the things leading up to the tenderness of the holiday season.
Writer Emily Gedde connects with Taya Brodin-Hanson of Maple Grove Giving Connection. The nonprofit organization, which first began as a Facebook Group, works to donate items of need to local families. Of the nonprofit, Brodin-Hanson says, “We really want it to be a group that helps make Maple Grove as a city feel more like a community.”
Readers, if you’re looking to add in a super taste to your holiday meal planning and preparation, visit Get In on the Cranberry Craze, where writer Kristie Smith shares the power of one superfruit—plus recipes to get you started. And, if you’re looking to spend more time outdoors this winter, writer Mollee Francisco talks with the City of Maple Grove about its crokicurl rink. Prefer time with family? Renée Stewart-Hester compiles a list of winter activities to keep you busy all season long.
I would love to hear what you’re cherishing this holiday season. Send me a note at hailey@localmedia.co. Seasons greetings!
