The Charitable Housewives of Maple Grove have chosen a very worthy beneficiary to receive funds raised from their third annual Run With the Housewives 5K run/walk and 1K fun run on May 11. Housewives again partnered with “Wishes and More,” a Minnesota organization focused on helping children with terminal or life-threatening illnesses achieve their biggest wish. Richard, is a 12-year-old boy fighting Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, whose wish is to swim with the dolphins in the Bahamas. With help from a successful run, “Wishes and More” is hoping to send Richard and his family to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas by years’ end.
The race takes place on Mother’s Day, and includes a children’s 1K fun run, which makes it an event in which the entire family to participate. “What we love about the race is that every person is here with a friend, neighbor or family member and it still feels like Mother’s Day,” says Tina Wherry , Charitable Housewives founder.
Registration is available at charitablehousewives.com or active.com, or through the Charitable Housewives of Maple Grove Facebook page. $28/5K, $10/1K before May 8. Children’s 1K begins at 9 a.m. with the 5K following after.
